Murderabilia
Psychological noir thriller novel / In development
The Story
James Maarse is a successful Dutch true crime writer and podcaster known for his exceptional insight into serial killers, violence and the psychology of predators. Publicly, he is respected for his ability to understand dangerous people. Privately, he may understand them a little too well.
While investigating murder cases, interviewing unstable individuals and receiving anonymous messages from people with violent fantasies, James secretly builds a collection of human predators the way others collect rare vinyl records, film memorabilia or forgotten artifacts. Not out of justice or cruelty, but out of fascination, recognition and the belief that some monsters are too rare to simply disappear.
Blending psychological thriller, detective noir and uncomfortable dark comedy, Murderabilia explores society’s obsession with violence and the strange relationship between fear, celebrity and fascination. A stylish character-driven story filled with morally ambiguous figures, dangerous encounters and people searching for meaning in the darkest corners of human behavior.
Inspired by noir, modern true crime culture and emotionally driven genre storytelling, the project is being developed by Indiana Midas Pictures as an English-language fiction series beginning as a noir thriller novel for Kindle with potential to expand into audio and television.
